National Eating Disorders Awareness Week – February 26 – March 4

The National Eating Disorders Association or NEDA is promoting this year’s National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, February 26 – March 4, 2018.

The theme this year is Let’s Get Real and the goal is to expand the conversation and highlight stories we don’t often hear.

Our culture has complicated relationships with food, exercise, and appearance. 30 million Americans will struggle with a full-blown eating disorder and millions more will battle food and body image issues that have untold negative impacts on their lives.

But because of stigma and stereotypes, many people don’t get the support they deserve. Join the conversation and help us raise awareness, bust myths, get people screened, and start journeys to healing.

Want to get involved?  NEDA encourages you to consider becoming a volunteer speakers.  Volunteer speakers are invaluable to outreach and educational efforts during NEDAwareness Week. This Eating Disorders 101 slideshow presentation (complete with speaker notes!) will give you all you need to give an educational talk on eating disorders. And if you’re hosting a public event, please don’t forget to add it to the NEDA database!
